Another Oscars ceremony has come and gone (with much controversy – we may add!) but here at Joel & Son Fabrics we’re only truly interested in one element – the dresses.
Here are our favourite looks from The Oscars 2017.
VIOLA DAVIS
Best Supporting Actress winner Viola Davis stunned in a custom coral Armani Privé silk crêpe gown. The term 'less is more' comes to mind - a simple fabric with a phenomenal drape in a stunning colour does all the talking.
CHARLIZE THERON
Charlize Theron was going for gold in a Grecian style lamé dress by Dior. Pleats and pleats of gold lamé layered with black chiffon are used to create this two-tone effect gown. Cleverly cinched in at the waist to create a gorgeous silhouette. Lamé & chiffon are light, floaty fabrics allowing the dress to float seamlessly as you walk.
BRIE LARSON
Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson channelled classic Hollywood glamour in Oscar de la Renta. Her black velvet dress was lined with silk zibeline to create the stiffness needed for her ruffled skirt and dramatic neckline.
FELICITY JONES
It's impossible to be overdressed for The Oscars. Award presenter Felicity Jones took it to the next level showing us her best 'black tie ballerina' look in a romantic tulle Dior gown.
THE OSCARS VANITY FAIR AFTER PARTY
DEMI LOVATO
Looking every inch the princess in a lilac Monique Lhuillier silk chiffon gown. Metres & metres of silk chiffon are ruffled to perfection to create this girlie princess gown.
KATE BOSWORTH
Mixing teal green tulle with a gold underlay, this two-tone effect a-line tulle dress by J. Mendel is simply stunning.
That's it for our favourites this year! We welcome you to recreate these sensational looks with us and we promise to continue to offer the most fabulous, red carpet worthy fabrics all year round.
